“To combine proper strategies and making visible the nations of the world that are fighting for their social demands, it is expected the carrying out of a world conference of the popular social movements.” The Brazilian Jo ão Pedro Stedile, who is the coordinator of the ALBA and TCP blocks, announced.
During the XVI ALBA-TCP extraordinary summit, which was carried out in Caracas city, João Pedro Stedile said that the meeting was set by the social movements from the five continents and even though it has not a pre-established date yet. It might be carried out the very likely period between October and November.
Likewise, the also leader of the Rural Landless Workers Movement highlighted that the organization and the coordination of those social movements surpassed the Latin American continent.
João Pedro Stedile announced some of the representatives of those organizations which comes from the United States, Tunisia and Zambia.
Latin America and social movements
In Latin America, the crisis from the 1980 decade caused that the international officials and developed nations carried out some economic reforms for the granting of loans and a different related assistance.
The neoliberal project has led into the growing of elements such as the quick globalization of the capitalism, low salaries and social inequality.
As a close antecedent to that meeting, it could be mentioned the occasion when the Latin American social movements and union ones had a meeting in April 2015 in Panama on the occasion of the Latin American summit.
In a communiqué issued by the ALBA Operative secretary´s office, it was announced:
All the social organizations from the AlBA block Continental Coordination of Social Movements, as well as the friendly ones, should carry out the necessary efforts to be present in Panama, along with their representatives.´
