Lenin Moreno as The New President of Ecuador

Lenín Moreno leads the presidential elections of Ecuador with 51.14 % (5.021.867) before the (4.797.264) that his counterpart, the banker Guillermo Lasso, accumulates in the balloting process with the 98.61 of the counted votes by the National Electoral Council of Ecuador (CNE).
“This has just started; hence, all we are going to work for the nation and our beloved Ecuador We shall do it in peace and harmony! Lenín Moreno exclaimed while he was celebrating the electoral result in the north of Quito city, along with the current President, Rafael Correa.
He also referred to the messages of congratulation received by him from Latin American leaders, once it was known the balloting´s results:

“Thanks to the Latin American presidents who have called to congratulate us.” He said.

This victory of the candidates, Lenín Moreno and Jorge Glass who represents the Alianza País party, represents the continuity of the Revolución Ciudadana (Citizen Revolution) that is led by Rafael Correa sin ce 2017. Lenín Moreno also led the votes in the first balloting round from February 19th with over 50 % of the votes.

As the key aspects of his government´s planned program, Lenín Moreno talked about the support for the Ecuadorean higher education and even much more possibilities for the citizens in terms of having access into the Educational system.

The President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, along with the former head of state of Argentina, Cristina Fernández and the president of Salvador, Salvador Sánchez Cerén, celebrated the triumph of the Alaianza Paíz party. Moreover, the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated both the former president Rafael Correa and Lenín Morero. The Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos, congratulated Lenín Moreno on phone.

The founder of Wikileaks, Julian Assange, on his part, asked the right-wing opposition candidate, Guillermo Lasso, to leave the nation for a month.

“I invite Mr. Guillermo Lasso, to leave Ecuador in the next 30 days, along with or without his millions hidden in offshore accounts. (#AssangeSIlassoNO).” Julian Assange wrote on his Twitter account.

Julian Assange set the same period of time that Lasso said that he would give to the creator of Wikileaks, in case of winning the presidency, to abandon the Ecuadorean embassy where he has taken asylum since 2012 not to be extradited to Sweden due to allegedly sexual crimes which has been decnied by Julian Assange.

Ecuador is the smallest member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEP) which reports a production of up to 543.000 daily oil barrels in 2015. That represents half of that nation´s exports with 4.000 million oil barrels from its proven reserves.

It is the first exporting nation of banana in the world and also an important coffee, cacao, tuna and flower producing country; besides, the oil prosperity of the last years allowed it a sustained economic growing until 2014 and the reduction of poverty which changed from a 36.7% in December of the year 2007 into a 22.9% by the end of 2016, according to the official numbers.

Last year, the Gross Domestic Product of Ecuador experienced a 1.7 % contraction, and according to the IMF and the World Bank, it is expected a 2.7% and 2.9 % recession. However, there are some experts who are already stating that the nation is experiencing some positive recovery trends and it is expected a related growing of a 1.4 %, approximately.
