Matanzas, Cuba.- Mirtha Rodríguez, who is Antonio Guerrero´s mother, participated in the 21st International Book Fair that is also being held in the Cuban eastern region and shared with the readers from Camaguey a new reprint of the book entitled El dulce abismo.

It is an indispensable book in order to know about the Five, their values with the family and motherland, their convictions that have resisted 14 years of an unfair prison. Rodríguez commented.

As it is known, Mirtha has been preparing since last week for a new visit to her son Antonio. It is a process to obtain the US visa that has already delayed almost half a month. Therefore, the local press interviewed her and she replied: “I confess you right now that I have not received news about the assignment of my visa, however, I am feeling confident and hopeful, and I know that there is a an environment of understanding and common sense that could enable me to get to know how is feeling my son in his new prison as well as being able to hug him and talk to him. I want you to know that since last week I am waiting for that permission.”

Questioned about the possibility of a visit to René González, Mirtha Rodríguez commented that he is not allowed to receive visits, so, that is not possible given that his condemn continues. Then Mirtha pointed out: “One of my old wishes would be the chance to hug him in our land. I think that would be the fairest think to do as well as finishing already with that unfair condemn.

In relation to a question from the local reporter about the way Mirtha has been able to keep her energy, patience and conviction about the return of the Five after a 14-year separation, Mirtha explained: “take a look at the photos they send for us. Their convictions are evident and not because of you have said it, for instance. Tony, as my son, is the one who gives me all the energy of the world and it would have been a serious betrayal against Tony and all his compatriots if I had had a different attitude during these 14 years of unfair condemn, so, I am feeling strong and in good mood.” By José Miguel Solís
