Up to now, there are two the philatelic materials issued by the Cuban mail service to demand the freedom of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters incarcerated in the United States since over fifteen years already.
The first of them is entitled ´Condenados por combater el terrorismo´ (literally, condemned for fighting against the terrorism) and appeared in 2005. It is a postal piece only that cost $ 65.99 local cents and it shows the faces of the Cuban Five heroes; besides, it can be observed the faces of the Five Cuban Heroes, as well as the image of the national hero José Martí, at the bottom of it.
Two years later in 2007, an aerogram was issued, as well as six stamps entitled ´Cinco presos en Estados Unidos por defenser a su pueblo´(literally, the five inmates for defending their people) which costs $ 65.00 local cents each. Their main characteristic is the fact that five of them are dedicated to each of the Cuban compatriots but the sixth one is linked to the iconic image of the hand and the logotype and symbol of the related campaign named: !Libertad ya! (Literally, freedom for them, already!).
It is worth highlighting the fact that it has been elaborated an abundant philatelic material linked to the issue of the Cuban Five such as the especial or recall issues, the related correspondence, as well as the initiatives carried out by both the Cuban and foreign collectors.
At the José Guerra Aguiar Cuban Postal museum, which is located on the first floor of the local Minister of Communications in Havana city and near from the Revolution square, the interested people could appreciate many of those pieces and materials, including the special envelopes created by the artist named Saulo Serrano.
