Venezuelan Attorney General Holds Meeting with Relatives of Five Cubans Anti Terrorist Fighters

In a meeting was held with family members of the Cuban five anti terrorist fighters, the Venezuelan attorney general stated that she would write an article for the influential US daily the New York Times in order to generate a change of opinion about this theme which has been widely silenced and manipulated by the most important US mass media.
Luisa Ortega Díaz confirmed that she would urge other attorneys general to send letters to the US Secretary of Justice in order to bring pressure to bear on the US president Barack Obama to send back to Cuba the five men detained unjustly in the year 1998.
During the meeting, Irma Sewerhet, mother of René González, stated that “there is a wall of silence around the case and the US population does not know the true.”
Magalys LLort, mother of Fernando González considered that “the president Obama could really solve the case of the five Cuban anti terrorist fighters taking into account the authority he has as a president of the United States.”
While talking to mothers and wives of the five Cuban anti terrorist fighters, the Venezuelan attorney general, Luisa Ortega Díaz, reiterated on behalf of the Public Ministry and the Venezuelan people the solidarity with this cause and asked the permission from their family members to transmit a message of hope to the Cuban five.
In the meeting, Luisa Ortega Díaz, Venezuelan ambassador on the island, Eduardo Ramírez, as well as other high-ranking officials from the Venezuelan Public Ministry participated. By Angélica Paredes López
