The President of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, Dr. Luis Velazquez Perez ratified on Thursday in the city of Holguin the importance of working with the new generation as one of the main projects of the institution.
Velazquez, eminent Cuban scientist, told ACN the need to prepare the youth to contribute in solving social problems through research.
He highlighted that the new generation guarantees the development of innovation and the new technologies in Cuba, one of the sectors destined to broaden exports for the country.
He added that it is important to form early doctors as part of the programs to face the aging population.
Velazquez exposed among other objectives, an increase in international cooperation, scientific publications and a major insertion in the development of the different sectors of society.
The Cuban Academy of Sciences is the continuation of the Royal Academy of Medical, Physics and Natural Sciences of Havana, founded in 1891 and currently with 405 members that represent the national scientific community.
