Amazonīs Tallest Tree is safe from Fire

The tallest tree in the Amazon, standing 88 meters tall, is currently safe from the forest fires that have been destroying the so-called lungs of the planet for the past weeks, G1 website reported.

The source states that the giant woody plant was identified by a remote sensor in the northern state of Para and a terrestrial expedition of researchers found in August the specimen of the genus Dinizia excelsa, also known as Angelim Vermelho.

G1 reports that while different parts of the Amazon were on fire, a 30-people team made a dangerous trip, first by boat and then on foot, looking for this particular tree in the Amazon.

The tallest of the giant trees in the world's largest tropical forest is located within a sustainable state conservation unit in the Paru State Forest.

President Jair Bolsonaro is responsible for the burning in the Amazon. He faces criticism for his policy in favor of agricultural industry and mining in that territory, to the detriment of indigenous reserves and the environment, and has been unresponsive to the emergency situation created by the fires.
