Argentinean Group Wins First Latin American Monologue Festival in Cuba

Cienfuegos, Cuba.- The “Crónicas de un comediante” (Chronicles of a Comedian) by the Argentine group Bachín Teatro, won Terry Award of the First Latin American Monologue Festival, which concluded on Sunday in the city of Cienfuegos.
The award, which highlights the best Latin American monologue staged in this Festival, went to this group because the efficient handling of multiple artistic and dramaturgical references based on a contemporary piece, said Carlos Padron, president of the jury.
He added that all the works had very good quality, which is why they decided to give a mention to the play Medea, played by Italian Renata Mézenov.
In the category of Best Male Performance Cuban Yunier Lopez Rodriguez received the highest award and Brazilian Alexandre Roit with his piece “Jugando con mis pelotas en la calle” (playing with my balls on the street), earned the popularity prize.
For the quality of their performances, the jury decided give tow awards for the best female actresses to Puerto Rican Teresa Hernandez and Michelle Ferreira from Brazil.
Also, Roxana Pineda Theatrical Study of Villa Clara, won the award for best staging of the work sheets of paper flying.
From Spain, Italy and eight American countries, 20 monologue performers participated in the meeting, which were held in various scenarios of the province and the Mejunje (Santa Clara), Teatro Cardenas (Matanzas) and Bertolt Brecht (Havana).
