Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council arrives in Cuba

Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council or Russian Senate, arrived in Havana on an official visit invited by Esteban Lazo, President of the National Assembly of People's Power and of the Council of State.

At the Jose Marti international airport, MP Ana Maria Mari Machado, vice president of the National Assembly and the Council of State, welcomed the distinguished visitor, who will complete an intense work program, which includes participation in the main activities for the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana, the Cuban parliament's website published.

The senior parliamentary leader is accompanied by chairpersons of the Committee on International Affairs, Konstantin Kosachov, Defense and Security, and Constitutional Legislation and State Formation, as well as Dmitri Novikov, first vice president of the Committee of the State Duma for International Affairs, who also chairs the Russia-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group, among other important Russian legislators.
