Cienfuegos, Cuba. - Sugar workers of this province in the south center of the Archipelago celebrate having produced 100 000 tons of sugar in the current harvest. They had not reached such figure in the last six years and thus evidence the recovery and growth of sugar industry.
Lidia Esther Brunet, first secretary of Cuban Communist Party in the province, shared their joy. She congratulated them at the ceremony held at the office of the sugar company of the Pearl of the South and exhorted them to continue working for the benefit of Cuban economy.
They produced 8 000 tons of sugar more than the last harvest. Sugar company general manager, Pedro Perez, said they would keep working to meet the production plan pledged to the country.
Cienfuegos sugar workers have attained industrial yields above 11, as a token of the efficiency that characterizes the current harvest. Furthermore, they met the electric power generation plan and achieved energy self-sufficiency. That indicator stands now at 113 %.
Lidia Esther Brunet also delivered the plaque that gives credit to “14 de Julio” sugar mill, in the municipality of Rodas, for having been the first to meet their sugar production plan in Cienfuegos territory this year.
Sugar factory “5 de Septiembre”, also in Rodas, will shortly reach this goal and will be followed by the remaining “Antonio Sanchez”, in Aguada de Pasajeros and “Ciudad Caracas”, in Lajas. By: Mireya Ojeda
