Cienfuegos, Cuba. – The volunteer blood donors obtained their recognition during the day that recently began nationwide. Besides, the abovementioned province is among the best three ones as a result of the program organized by the Committees for the Defence of the Cuban Revolution (CDR) and the local Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Rafael Morales Femenías, who is member of the Secretariat from the Provincial Coordination of the CDR, explained that the positive result was only achieved thanks to the human determination of more than 8 000 men and women, many of them who are young ones and carried out 14 000 blood donations in one single year by surpassing the blood donations’ planned number.

The World Blood Donor Day and its recognition process in the local neighbourhoods and work places to those who selflessly donate their blood for hospitals or needy patients extended the aforementioned day until June 14. The nationwide World Blood Donor Day´s meeting took place in Santiago de Cuba province.

"We have families who continue the traditions of their grandparents, parents, nephews and other relatives who are part of the movement devised to save human lives. Moreover, the Aguada de Pasajeros municipality is among those ones that tops the list followed by Cruces municipality and Cienfuegos.´ Rafael Morales pointed out.

´It is significant that Aguada de Pasajeros municipality has been fulfilling the 6-month period of the local blood-donation plan during a five-year and three-month period, respectively, which is a result that is only found in Cuba and that was the reason by which it will be the venue of the local provincial meeting.´ Femenías said.
