Cuba and France recognize historical cultural ties

French and Cuban Ministers of Culture, Franck Riester and Alpidio Alonso, respectively, recognized today in Paris the historical ties that bind their two countries and the role of culture in building bridges between the two nations.

Riester received today his Caribbean counterpart, who heads the Cuban delegation to the 40th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The ministers reviewed the results of cooperation between French and Cuban cultural institutions and agreed to continue fostering exchanges, in accordance with a joint declaration signed in 2015.

The Cuban minister was accompanied by Vice Minister Fernando Leon Jacomino and the Cuban ambassador to France, Elio Rodriguez Perdomo.

The 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference will be held in Paris from November 12-27, with the presence of its 193 Member States and 10 associates, and the main issue will be higher education and artificial intelligence.
