HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuba and the People's Democratic Republic of Korea released a postage stamp marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Prensa Latina reported.
The stamp shows a picture of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro next to then North Korean president Kim II Sung during a visit of Fidel to North Korea in 1986. The two leaders are holding their hands up united, reported Granma newspaper.
During the presentation ceremony at the Cuban Stamp Museum, the ambassador of the Asian country to Cuba, Kwon Sung Chol, extolled the willingness of the people of both countries to continue building socialism in spite of the hostility of the United States.
Kwon reaffirmed Pyongyang’s unconditional support of Cuba in the face of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the US against the island and for the release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters imprisoned in that country for nearly 12 years now.
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez were arrested in September, 1998, while they were monitoring Florida-based anti-Cuba terrorist organizations.
