Cuba Baseball Team Undefeated in Nicaragua

The Cuban baseball squad remained undefeated Friday after beating 10 runs to one Nicaragua’s team, the third game of bilateral training match, held at the Central American nation.
The team, headed by newly minted national champion manager Roger Machado, mashed Nicaraguan pitching staff with 17 hits at the Dennis Martinez Stadium in Managua, to back up the good work of the pitchers, who only allowed seven hits in nine innings.
The first runs in the game came in the same initial inning, when the Cuban players stepped on home four times out of five hits, which decreed the expulsion of starter Elvin Orozco, who worked only two thirds of an inning.
Meanwhile, the Nicaraguan discounted at the bottom of the second inning, thanks to a doble hit by catcher Juan Blandon and RBI single by third baseman Darrell Campbell, against right-handed Freddy Asiel Alvarez, who eventually won the game.
Nicaraguan reliever pitched 4 and a third innings allowing only three hits till the sixth inning. After he was relieved the Cuban hitters managed to score four more times.
On the Cuban side, the best batters were Rusney Castillo who went 2 out of five and a run, Juan Carlos Torriente (4-2), who also had a run and Yordanis Samon (5-2).
Cuban starter Alvarez pitched five full innings allowing only one run, and the other Cuban pitchers who saw action in this game were Yoanni Year (1.0), yander Guevara (2.0) and closer Aguilera Danni (1.0).
Tomorrow both teams will play a fourth game in the same venue of the Nicaraguan capital, where Miguel Lahera could be the starter for the Cuban team; Berman Espinoza must be the Nicaraguan choice.
Before the game, there will be a home run derby, where the Nicaragua announced Dwight Britton, Sandor Guido, Justo Rivas and Renato Morales, while Cuba will have Castillo, Alfredo Despaigne, Samon and Alexei Bell.
