Cuba participates in the 1st online Regional Technical Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States

Cuba submitted its experience in the treatment of patients positive for SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, at the First Regional Technical Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held on Monday online.

From the headquarters of the International Press Center of the Cuban foreign ministry, doctors Francisco Duran, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health, and Ricardo Pereda, coordinator of the group of experts of the same ministry, presented the results of the Caribbean nation in facing the COVID-19, reported Duran on Twitter.

At the online meeting, hosted by Cuba in its capacity as pro-tempore chairman of the ACS, the Cuban experts made a special presentation to share details on the clinical aspects of the disease, the epidemiological action protocols and the appropriate treatments to prevent the spread of the pandemic, said Eugenio Martinez, director general for Latin America and the Caribbean at the Cuban foreign ministry.

Currently, Cuban health professionals are fighting the new coronavirus causing COVID-19 in several countries in the Caribbean region, including Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Dominica, Haiti and Jamaica.

The Association of Caribbean States is a regional body that seeks to strengthen and integrate the countries of the Caribbean Sea region. It was founded on July 24, 1994 with the aim of creating a common economic forum, preserving the sea and fostering the sustainable development of its 31 member states.
