Cuba shows interest in Eurasian market

Orlando Hernández Guillén, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba, said during the Cuba-Eurasian Economic Commission (CEE) Business Forum that the Eurasian market has great potential for the insertion and distribution of Cuban products, services and technologies with high added value.

During the meeting, which took place in the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, he expressed that the appointment is made on the occasion of the visit to Cuba of Tigran Sargsyan, president of the Board of Directors of the EEC and its official delegation.

Since its inception, the representatives of both parties have been in close communication, which has allowed analyzing progress in integration, as well as possible ways to carry out collaborative plans, he said when speaking to Tatiana Valovaya, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC.

The result of this was Cuba's participation in different activities held during the International Eurasian Week Forum held in October 2018 in Armenia, she said.

She recalled that today also took place the first session of the joint commission for collaboration between Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Commission, which analyzed issues of common interest such as the implementation of measures aimed at eliminating trade barriers, increasing trade volumes, investment, intellectual property and trade in services, among other issues.

According to Hernández Guillén, Cuban businessmen are ready to work with companies from Eurasian Union member countries, because the political will of governments to strengthen economic relations is confirmed.

Let us hope that this meeting will be one more step in the establishment of cooperation, in the identification and diversification of trade, he said.

The business forum also presented the product portfolios of the commercial company Caribex, an exporter of fish products, and the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubaFarma).

Ileana Núñez, deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of Cuba, also attended the meeting
