Cuba beat Honduras and thus got a ticket to the round of 16 in the 2020 CONCACAF Women´s U20 Championships running in the Dominican Republic from Feb 22 to March 8.
According to the website of the contest, the Cuban girls won 6-1 with goals by Maristania Mengana, who opened the score in the 21st minute, Analia Cespedes (44’and 57’), Katheryn Rodriguez (70’) and Cecilia Aldana (74’), in addition to an own goal by Giselle Guzman (53’), while Maylin Menjivar (55’) scored Honduras´ solo goal.
After this outcome, Cuba appears third in Group C behind United States (6 units) and the hosts, who amount Cuba´s same total (3), but have better goal difference (+3 per -4).
The top three teams in each group advance to the round of 16, where they are joined by the four squads advancing from the qualifying stage (Saint Lucia, Bermuda, Grenada and Barbados).
The top two sides of the tournament will qualify for the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica and Panama as the CONCACAF representatives, besides these two teams who automatically qualified as co-hosts.
