The Cuban Porvac vaccine, which was created to fight the classic hog cholera, will be applied in the local Isla de la Juventud special municipality for the first time in the second week of October to be later used nationwide.

The Cuban News Agency reports that it is a safe medicine to fight the classic hog cholera, taking into account that it is different to other ones which were developed from reduced viruses. This is a biotechnological one and it is based on one of the proteins of the virus, only.

In statements to the Cuban News agency, the director of the local Agricultural Researches from the Genetic and Biotechnology Engineering Center, Mario Estrada García, explained that vaccine, which was created in the laboratories of that center from the capital city, is currently produced in its branch in Camaguey province where there are some related investments in order to increase the production quantities.
