Cuba to Host Int’l Congress of Sea Sciences

HAVANA, Cuba.- Organizers of the Ninth International Congress of Sea Sciences (MarCuba 2012) announced on Friday that the event has been scheduled for the Cuban capital from October 29 to November 2 later this year.
Sea biodiversity, fishing and aquaculture management, invasive sea species, sea mammals, protected areas, climate change and its impact on coastal zones, biotechnology, and sea geology, are some of the topics to be discussed during the meeting.
Sources of the event’s organizing committee announced that a Trade Fair in which institutions and companies linked to the sector will be able to show and promote their products, will take place along with the Congress.
The meeting will be held under the slogan “Sea and Coastal Sciences at the Service of Society.”
The previous similar event took place in Havana in 2009 with the attendance of more than 1,000 delegates from 25 countries.
