Cuba wins gold and bronze medals at Pan-American Fencing Championships

The Cuban epee squad won the title in the 2019 Senior Pan-American Fencing Championships that took place in the Canadian city of Toronto.

According to the official website of the contest, Cubans got four straight victories to climb to the top of the podium, in an encouraging result when we are just a month before the start of the Lima Pan-Am Games.

The Caribbean men´s team made up by Yunior Reytor, Reynier Henriquez and Luis Patterson beat Mexico (45-36), Venezuela (45-34), Argentina (45-39) and USA (45-38), in that order.

They prevailed in the general classification with 64 points, ahead of United States (52) and Argentina (40).

In the individual event, Reytor achieved an outstanding third place along with Argentine Jose Felix Rodriguez, while the final was carried out by Venezuelan brothers Ruben and Jesus Limardo, defined 15-14 in favor of the first.

Finally, the only Cuban female representative, Daylen Moreno, finished 19th in the individual foil event.
