|Cuban Armed Forces Set up Electoral Commission for General Elections

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Special Electoral Commission of Cuba’s Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) will guarantee all eligible voters in the military sector to participate in the upcoming general elections on the island.
The statement was made by Colonel Leonides Rodriguez in conversation with Juventud Rebelde newspaper upon the ceremony that officially set up the electoral body, with the attendance of the president of the National Electoral Commission Alina Balseiro.
Colonel Rodriguez, who heads the military Electoral Commission said that in his sector there are many young women and men who will vote for the first time.
According to the military officer, the commission will be in charge of the vote in 15 special districts, which particularly include military academies and big units.
The special commission is made of a president, a vice-president and another six members.
The ceremony was presided over by Army Corps General Alvaro Lopez Miera, member of the Communist Party Political Bureau, Hero of the Republic of Cuba, first deputy minister of the armed forces and chief of staff. Also presiding the ceremony was the secretary of the Cuban Council of State Homero Acosta.
