HAVANA, Cuba.- The National Population and Housing census in Cuba is advancing at good pace after enumerators already visited over 2.3 million households and more than 6.5 Cubans have been registered.
National Census director Juan Carlos Alfonso told Granma newspaper that 61.7 percent of all dwellings have thus far been visited in a process that will conclude September 24.
The official stressed the cooperation of the people with the census in terms of providing accurate information on the aspects dealt with by enumerators.
Alfonso said that all permanent residents in Cuba must be registered, including those persons who are not at their places during the enumerators’ visit.
This is the fourth census that has been implemented in Cuba after the 1959 triumph of the Cuban Revolution. The latest census was carried out in 2002.
