HAVANA, Cuba.- Cuban ballet dancers Viengsay Valdes and Osiel Gouneo captivated the public present at the gala of the 25th Rudolf Nureyev International Classic Ballet Festival, held in the Tartar city of Kazan.
Viengsay said that “Muñecos”, with choreography by Cuban Alberto Mendez, was a success because its music includes indigenous rhythms, the Prensa Latina news agency reported on Monday.
In the second part of the program they interpreted the pas de deux of “Esmeralda”, a more academic piece that requires a lot of technical virtuosity, pointed out the prima ballerina of Cuba’s National Ballet Company (BNC).
Upon her return to Havana, she announced, she will participate in the La Huella de España Festival on June 2, and on June 8 she will perform in the Electra Garrido ballet, premiered in 1986 by Ofelia Gonzalez and Loipa Araujo.
She informed that two days later she will travel to Argentina, where she has been invited to dance with the Mar del Plata Ballet in the classic piece Swan Lake, in the version by Mario Galizzi.
