Cuban Expert to Head Latin American Center of Physics

HAVANA, Cuba.- Dr. Carlos Trallero Giner, a professor at the University of Havana and winner of the National Physics Prize in 2010, has been elected president of the Latin American Center of Physics (LACP).
The Rio de Janeiro-based institution was created in 1962 and its main purpose is the promotion of the development of this science and the training of professionals of the sector in the region.
The center has close links with prestigious world organizations and institutions such as UNESCO and the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy.
Dr. Lilliam Alvarez, executive secretary of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, told Granma newspaper that the election of the Cuban expert not only recognizes his long career as a professor and researcher, but also Cuba’s advances in physics.
