Diaz Canel pointed out that the environment surrounding higher education centers is more complex everyday and that universities have the duty to educate young women and men as responsible citizens committed to the well-being of their societies.

Diaz Canel referred to measures taken recently in the island to improve the educational system such as the increase of teaching hours for History and Civic Education and the generalization of university entrance examination.

University 2010 wraps up on Friday, February 12. Of more than 2,500 participants in the event, Venezuela brought the largest foreign delegation with 309 members, while Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, China, Russia and Italy have a significant number of representatives as well.
