Cuban judoka Idalis Ortiz won the silver medal after losing the final combat to Japanīs Akira Sone

Cuban judoka Idalis Ortiz won the silver medal in +78-kg division after losing the final combat to Japan´s Akira Sone at the World Championship.

Ortiz, who had won the title at the 12th Pan American Games in Lima, could not defeat the 19-year-old Japanese rising star, who had already won the gold medal at the mixed teams world cup last year.

The bronze medals went to Kayra Sayit, from Turkey, and Sarah Asanhina, from Japan.

Ortiz's was Cuba´s only medal at the event, at which the Caribbean island finished in the 13th place, while Japan won its fourth title and dominated the contest, followed by France with three medals, and a group of seven nations.
