
Bertha Lidia Castro Pacheco, who is the doctor and professor of the Pediatrics specialty of the local Juan Manuel Márquez, attended the health section to inform the population about the infectious diseases, their characteristics and ways of prevention in the communication mass media to exemplify the technological deficiencies and lack of the U.S. modern medicines that Cuba have not access to.
“Cuban and U.S. childen have common health issues and that create a chance for the academic collaboration between the two societies and that is a fact that have been affected by that inhuman policy that Cuba has suffered intensely.”She pointed out.

In spite of the related shortages and the impossibility in terms of buying in a near market, the Cuban pediatrics has made a significant achievement:
The annual surviving rate for under 5 years-old minors in Cuba is 99% and that is a parameter that shows the Cuban State´s proper politic will in terms of prioritizing the Public health to which it dedicates the 27% of its annual budget.
