The President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, described Wednesday as cordial and sincere his conversations with His Eminence Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York.
On Tuesday afternoon, Diaz-Canel received Timothy Dolan, who is visiting Cuba at the invitation of the Cuban President and the Cuban Conference of Catholic Bishops.
This is His Eminence's first visit to Cuba, where he has been welcomed with hospitality and respect. During his stay, he has had exchanges with members of the Conference of Catholic Bishops and has visited places related to the activity of the Church and other sites of interest.
Cardinal Dolan was accompanied during the meeting by the Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn County, New York, Octavio Cisneros, and by Bishop Emilio Aranguren Echeverria, President of the Cuban Conference of Catholic Bishops.
On the Cuban side, foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez Parilla and Caridad Diego Bello, head of the Office of Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, also participated in the meeting.
