ETECSA assesses the effectiveness of the information services through the mobile

The Computing Applications Enterprise (DESOFT), through a work agreement with the Cuban Telecommunication Enterprise (ETECSA), activated a mobile telephone system service that allow the user request the information of his interest for the price of 16 cents CUC.

The engineer Luis Manuel Díaz, Director of Institutional Communication, informed to Radio Rebelde that this application was really useful for the people, above all in cases of meteorological events such as the Hurricane Irma.

“There is a platform in which many services are provided through the number 8888. It is the same platform where the headlines of several press media like Granma, Cubadebate and many are given through others numbers. About this service in which the information regarding the cyclone was given, there are other services, exists information concerning sport, culture and generally speaking it has a great acceptance by the people.”

The employee also commented that the possibility of offering a more affordable price for the entire people will be studied in a future. “If the rates were lowered it would have to be done in all the services and I don’t believe that the platform has the capacity of assimilating a quantity of traffic, as to reduce the rates in general.”
