Finnish President Welcomes Cuban Culture Festival

Havana, Cuba.- The President of Finland, Tarja Halonen, sent a message to organizers and participants in the Third Cuban Culture festival saying that the event was an example of the importance of diversity and the bonds between different peoples.

The President’s message was read at the opening of the event at the cultural center of Caisa, Helsinki, the Finnish capital before a large audience attracted by the Cuban culture, says a report posted at the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.

Halonen wished success to the Festival and assured that it will contribute to foster dialogue and understanding and that it will open new possibilities for friendship and cooperation between Finland and Cuba.

The United Nations has proclaimed 2010 as the Year of Rapprochement of Cultures.
