The official announcement of the 5th Cuban Congress on Earth Sciences (GEOSCIENCES 2013) was made on Friday during a scientific meeting under way in this city, sponsored by the Geological Society of Cuba (SGC).
Participants in the meeting, held at the Mariana Grajales Revolution Square, analyze about 20 papers related to Geosciences, some of which will be debated at the aforementioned international congress, scheduled for April at Havana’s Convention Center.
Doctor of Sciences Fernando Guasch, secretary of scientific relations of the SGC, explained that the Congress includes an exhibition of products, new technologies and services for Geosciences, and will be composed of five important forums, attended by delegates from about 20 nations: the 10th Congress on Geology, the 8 th on Geophysics, the 5th on Mining, the 4th on Oil and Gas, and the 11th on Geo-computing.
In addition to showing the world Cuba’s advances in this specialty, the Congress is aimed at being a space for SCG members to debate issues linked to problems of the so-called Earth sciences and their sustainable development.
It will also be very useful to enrich the country’s geological knowledge and will serve as a platform for scientific exchanges between professionals from Cuba and the rest of the world.
