Havana earned Excellence Award in Spain Tourism Fair

The city of Havana earned the Excellence Award in the framework of FITUR 2020 International Tourism Fair, which runs until next Sunday in Madrid, capital of Spain.

According to Gustavo Machin, Cuban ambassador to the Iberian nation, the prize was handed over “to his government for having done much more for its city, and by being the city that more and better decked out to celebrate its 500th anniversary.”

These Awards were created 15 years ago by the Excelencias Group, with the aim of promoting exquisiteness in different fields related to tourism, gastronomy and culture in Latin America.

Spain remains a major market for Cuban tourism and last year reached 146,339 visitors, according to the National Statistics and Information Office (ONEI by its Spanish acronym).
