Havana Organizes International Regatta for this Friday

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Twentieth anniversary of Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba (CNIHC) Regatta will be held on the north coast of Havana city on Friday, April 27.
From 11: 00 am, the event will run on the sea leg extending from the mouth of the Almendares River, to the entrance of Havana Bay.
The score of vessels participating in the sailing-cruise mode, will return to the starting point, then return to the the bay, and then will head towards the Marina Hemingway to complete a total distance of 27 nautical miles.
This show for Cubans and visitors is part of the set of activities designed by the CNIHC, in commemoration of the two decades of his institution that will be marked this upcoming May 21.
Canoe and kayak events at 500 meters, staged at the La Coronela dam in the province of Artemisa, 'and captains' meetings were prologue of the celebrations, which honored the star rowers who will be attending 2012 London Olympics.
The tournament will have as scenery what US writer Ernest Hemingway, Gulf Stream, described as "... that Big Blue River, from three quarters of mile to one mile deep, and from 60 to 80 miles wide.”
The CNIHC, founded in 1992, currently has more 2 000 partners in over 50 countries including Canada, USA, Spain, Germany, France, UK and Denmark.
Among its main objectives is to promote unity and solidarity among water sports, sports, recreational and social events lovers and non-profit competitions of a friendly character.
