HAVANA, Cuba.- The International Labor Organization (ILO) called on urgent and energetic measures to face the employment crisis affecting 75 million youths around the world.

The final document of the 101st ILO Conference, held in Geneva since May 30, explains that the world could lose a whole generation if a solution is not given to youth unemployment.

Participants at the gathering urged governments, the multilateral system, the G-20 and all regional, national and international organizations to face the challenge under the leadership of the ILO.

Although there is much experience in solving problems facing the youths within the labor market, inefficient macroeconomic policies in many countries have not created enough jobs for the young workers, the documents explains.

The ILO says that political commitment and innovative approaches are crucial to improve the current situation.

According to the ILO, 75 million youths are currently unemployed in the world, 4 million more than in 2007. Six millions of all unemployed youths decided to quite their efforts to find a job.
