GUANTANAMO, Cuba.- Army General Raul Castro, second secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and president of the councils of State and Ministers, underlined on Thursday that keeping the Revolution alive for over half a century is the great feat of the Cuban people.
In a short speech at the main rally held in Guantanamo on the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes garrisons, Raul greeted locals and all Cubans.
He described as model the rally organized by Guantanamo residents and pointed out that this is the way all meetings should be.
With regard to the implementation of the Guidelines of the Party and the Revolution approved at the 6th Congress of the PCC, he said we should carry on at the pace we Cubans decide, little by little, slowly but surely.
Presiding over the meeting, along with the president of the councils of State and Ministers, were First Vice-president Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC; and Politburo members Esteban Lazo and Army Corps General Ramon Espinosa, Deputy Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.
Also present were Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the PCC, and Luis Antonio Torres, first secretary of the PCC in the province.
