Lazo Signs Book of Condolences for the Death of Ghanaian President

HAVANA, Cuba.- Esteban Lazo, Vice-president of the Cuban Council of State, signed on Tuesday in this capital a book of condolences for the death in Accra, capital of the Republic of Ghana, of John Atta Mills, President of that African country.
We express our support and solidarity for the people and government of that nation and for the relatives of Atta Mills on the occasion of his death, wrote Lazo, also a member of the Politburo of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC).
Lazo signed his message, on behalf of the PCC and Cuban authorities, at the residence of David Sarpong Boateng, Ghanaian ambassador to the Caribbean island, with whom he spoke prior to the signing of the book, accompanied by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez.
Atta Mills died on July 24 at 68 years of age, at the Military Hospital in Accra, as announced by communique issued by John Henry Martey, head of the presidential office.
He assumed the presidency in 2009, after winning the elections representing the National Democratic Congress.
