The reopening of the pedagogical schools, since two academic courses ago nationwide, constituted a key way to strengthen the training of the students from the basic levels of the Cuban educational system.

Rita Lorena Delgado, expert in Pedagogical Sciences and chief of the Integral Action of the Schools and Pedagogical Sciences Universities of the local Ministry of Education, said to Radio Rebelde station that the training´s content of the future student, which lasts four years, has a professional nature.

´The real goal is not set to create a mere high school graduate, who could be capable of delivering lessons, it is aimed at creating an individual capable to be an educator with the quality that the nation´s education sector needs at present.

Therefore, the plans of study guarantee the theoretical and practical contents, as well as the integral training that enable to carry out their pedagogical work with great quality in the educational institutions.´ Rita Lorena Delgado, who is also works as a vice-dean of the Pedagogical researches at the Juan Marinello Pedagogical Science University in Matanzas province, pointed out.

Rita Lorena Delgado, who has had a wide-pedagogical life despite she is just aged 38, said that the teachers staff is made up of people with great experience in this type of teaching, as well as by those teachers from the local pedagogical science universities that are giving their lessons in those institutions.

´The new entries for the upcoming academic course are calculated to be up to 7300 students who could be new strength of the 21 schools of this type that exist in the nation. Moreover, there are 14000 young people who are studying in the first year and second year. In short, there will be up to 21000 students who will be part of this stage.´

In addition, Rita Lorena Delgado said that the above-mentioned extra students obtained from the graduates in the upcoming future will enable the possibility to have better teachers in the primary education which is of great importance for the Cuban educational system.

Rita Lorena Delgado said that the career lasts a four-year period and once they conclude studying it, then they will begin working in schools as high-school teachers with the possibility to study degrees in preschool, primary and special preschool through the course for workers option that is offered in the Pedagogical Sciences Universities.

´The goal is to become all of them in good-personal examples for their students given the fact that they have an excellent training; as well as they could master the contents they have to deliver during the six years that last the Cuban primary education.´ By Teresa Valenzuela
