Mexican baseball team loses friendly in Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba. - A Mexican baseball team, Los Piratas de Campeche, from the Mexican Baseball League, lost 1-5 this Wednesday their first friendly match, of four scheduled, this time against the Matanzas team, in that western Cuban province.
Elvis Camejo was the winning pitcher, while the loser was Miguel Ruiz, while the offense was led by Yadir Dreke of Matanzas, with two hits in two at-bats, Yurisbel Gracial, 4-2, and Jose Fernandez, of 4-1, with two RBIs, reported Prensa Latina news agency.
The visitors could only bat two hits and made two errors, while the home team accumulated 10 hits and its defense was perfect.
The match is part of the Mexican team’s preparation to face the coming professional series in their nation, which begins this March 18 and in which they present a strong roster.
The Pirates, with a strong baseball tradition in Mexico, present a number of former major league players from the United States and some players also known by Cuban fans as Francisco Campos.
