HAVANA, Cuba.- The General Secretary of the Mexican Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Dolores Padierna, said that an eventual electoral victory of this political organization would represent a positive change for Mexicans, for Latin America, and, particularly, for Cuba.
Speaking to Prensa Latina news agency on the upcoming general elections of July 1 in Mexico, Padierna noted that the people of Mexico love Cuba and they want the end of Washington’s almost 50-year-old economic blockade of the Caribbean nation.
In addition, she denounced and condemned the illegal process against five Cuban antiterrorists who were arrested and given harsh and unjust sentences in the United States for monitoring anti-Cuba right wing groups in South Florida that were planning and carrying out terrorist actions against Cuba.
Regarding the situation in Mexico, she pointed out that her country needs an economy that can guarantee full employment to millions of citizens who need it. He added that it is necessary to implement social policies that can help reduce the gap between the rich and the poor.
“And when I speak about social rights I mean like those already achieved in Cuba where there is no illiteracy, where hunger is not a problem and where everyone enjoy their right to education and health.”
