Mario Oliva, head of the Department for International Relations of the Higher Education Ministry, said in Havana that ministers from Venezuela, Spain, Serbia, Russia, Angola, Saudi Arabia, the Dominican Republic, India and Sudan, among other countries, are participating in the event.
Venezuelan Higher Education Minister Luis Acuña thanked
Today, he pointed out, there are more than two million students at Venezuelan universities, a figure that has been reached thanks to the governmental support of President Hugo Chavez.
Our delegation, he said, will take advantage of these days to strengthen cooperation with Cuban universities and to promote exchanges between equivalent ministries, as part of a cooperation program.
Obradovic added that universities in his country offer 100 scholarships for nations that are members of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries,
For his part, Spanish Education Minister Angel Gabilondo expressed his appreciation for the opportunity given by this event for reflection and debate on the new challenges and perspectives higher education should face, in the struggle for a better world.
