One of Cuba’s Great Sporting Figures, Teofilo Stevenson, Dies in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba.- Teofilo Stevenson, who won all the titles given by the International Amateur Boxing Association, died in this capital from a heart attack.
Born on March 29, 1952, in the city of Puerto Padre, eastern Las Tunas province, Stevenson had, on his list of achievements, a total of 301 victories in the 321 fights in which he participated during the 20 years of his boxing career, the Cubadebate Web site reported.
After retiring as active athlete, the three times Olympic and World champion began to work in 1988 in the Cuban Boxing Federation and in the National Commission for the Attention of Retired and Active Athletes, of the National Sports Institute.
