President of the Cuban Parliament receives Laos FM

Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the National Assembly of People's Power and Council of State, received today at the Havana Capitol Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, who is making an official visit to Cuba.
It is an honor to have you in our homeland," said Lazo Hernandez when welcoming him to the institutional seat of the parliament, and expressed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are very close, which this month reached the 45th anniversary of their establishment.
He also highlighted the strong parliamentary ties between Laos and the Caribbean nation; and in that sense he referred to the friendship groups' efforts in both National Assemblies, chaired, on the Cuban side, by Brigadier General Delsa Esther Puebla Viltre, the first woman to reach the ranks of General in the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, who was also present at the meeting.
Lazo Hernandez updated Saleumxay Kommasith and the delegation that accompanies him on the intense legislative work the Cuban MPs are immersed in to comply with the new Constitution of the Republic, proclaimed last April.
He also thanked Laos for its support in condemning the U.S. blockade at the United Nations, where a report was recently presented on the damage caused to the Cuban people by this illegal policy.
For his part, the Laotian politician thanked Cuba for the help given to his people in the most difficult moments, especially the support received by health professionals; he also mentioned that 24 students from his country are preparing in Cuba.
