The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, who is on an official visit to Cuba.
In a friendly atmosphere, they exchanged views on the need to preserve world peace and security and the principles of international law. They also discussed matters of mutual interest.
The distinguished visitor was accompanied by Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, Consuelo Vidal, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Cuba, and Katrin Hett, Assistant for Political Affairs of the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General.
On the Cuban side were present Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the UN.
