Raul Castro Receives Syrian President in HavanaHAVANA, CUBA.- Cuban President Raul Castro received this Monday in Havana his Syrian counterpart Bachar Al Assad who is in Cuba in an official visit.


After the two countries national anthems were played, Raul and Al Assad reviewed the troops from the ceremonial unit of the General Staff of the Cuban Revolutionary Army Forces.


The two heads of state held official talks after the ceremony with the presence on the Cuban part of Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and his Syrian counterpart Waled Al Moualem and the Political and Media Advisor at the Syrian Presidency Bouthaina Shaabam.


In the afternoon the Syrian President had laid a floral wreath at the monument to Cuba’s National Hero, and toured the Jose Marti Memorial accompanied by Foreign Affairs deputy Minister Marcos Rodríguez Costa, where he lerant on the life and works of Marti.
