Roiniel Ledea Rosabal is a great local actor who considers himself as a very fortunate man after having started his career fifteen years ago. His talent has been recognized in numerous theatre festivals. Besides, he has been nominated on two occasions for the local Caricatos awards.

It seems nothing stops him in his constant search for improving his work and performing characters that are full of conflicts and diverse characteristics. His charisma makes that many people remind him with great pleasure and even a smile.

Roiniel Ledea Rosabal, who came from the theatre sphere in Granma province, started to work for the movie with great success when he participated in a film about the childhood and adolescence of the local hero José Martí. He owes a lot to the radio during his beginning and he has return to the radio now as its guest to dialogue about his artistic experience with Virgen Ojeda who is the presenter of the Estaciones radio program.

´I have been immersed in the world of arts since I was a child. I studied at the Rafael Cabrera Martínez School of music from Bayamo province and some time later I began working at the Nguyen Van Troi primary school from Granma province as the main responsible for cultural activities during some years there where I also participated in a play.´

´Likewise, I was part of that same cast in other plays like Meñique, among others, and something similar happened during my high school period.´

How did you begin in the world of performance?

´During the 90s, it was really difficult to study any artistic career given the fact that the best opportunities were then offered in the capital city and that placed the students of the province in great disadvantage. I knew that the Theatre group from Granma province needed an actor for a classic play, so, I went to that casting. It was the first time I was part of a professional group that had twenty years of experience in that sector.´

After many years, I was trained as a professional actor and I took some postgraduate courses that allowed me to reach a proper level. I also took part in the world of music as a percussionist in a humoristic group called Ultrasonido which obtained the Aquelarre award in the year 2000. That period of my career lasted ten years approximately.

During a phone call made by Actress Yosi Rodríguez, she defined the actor Roiniel as someone really passionate for his work and added: ´I had the chance to work with him and I really like his voice, rhythm and professionalism.´ and then to conclude she said: ´I want you to be the same person I met in the past.´

According to his own words, there had been many people who have contributed to his training as an actor and mentioned with visible joy some local actors such as Norberto Reyes, general and artistic director of the Granma theatre group, as well as actress Yudexis de la Torre, Mirelys Echenique, Magdalena Casade who is director of a radio station, as well as Ernesto Santiso and Oscar Aguilar, all of them from his province.

How did begin taking part in the performing arts of the capital city?

In the year 2006, it was celebrated the Barrio Cuento event in the Sierra Maestra mountain range, which was auspicated by the Cimarrón theatre group, along with the Association of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in which I participated with a narration. I was granted then a prize there and right away I receive the proposal about coming to Havana to join the Cimarrón group.

I attended to the Radio Progreso station in the capital city where I was lucky to meet director Héctor Pérez Ramirez and Carmen Solar who were the people I worked with many times. My stay in the local radio sphere was a truly fruitful one given that I owe, as an artist, a lot to it.

One of his great friends, Yudexis de la Torre, highlighted the human value of a young actor like him who has always had not only the right word to please the listener but also his elegant professionalism.

´As a matter of fact, I always use Ledea as an example about what is like to be a good actor given he is a very talented and really disciplined man.´ Yudexis de la Torre stated.

You have worked on the radio, television and the movie sphere. Tell me about that experience.

´I have worked a lot for the Radio Arte production enterprise. I have a great interest for the adventure genre which I really enjoy and forces me to make a better preparation of my characters.´

´Regarding the aforementioned radio programs, I can achieve a fully performance of my characters given I either perform the character of a boy or an old women or even a hero of the history. I took part in works such as the ones entitled La última legion, as well as biographical and world novels.´

´My work through the local television has been really short given I have participated only in TV programs such as the ones entitled Tras la huellas and El cuento; however, I was luckier when I began to work in the movie sector through the film entitled El ojo del canario. Moreover, I had the privilege to meet the film director Fernándo Pérez who is a very honourable and humble human being.´

´Later on, I participated in the filming process of the Al borde del río film and I am working once again with Fernándo Pérez in the La pared de las palabras film in which I am performing the character of a mentally ill person.
