At about 24 years old of age, Carlos Acosta dances for the first time the play entitled ´Rooster´ and Christopher Bruce was considered by him as one of the most important choreographers of the second half of the XX century, especially from the 80s and 90s decades.
“His work keep being of a great relevance worldwide. It is danced by the great related companies and I really feel pleasure about presenting his work in Cuba. It had never come before and it is a great opportunity so that the nation´s audience get to know him.” Carlos Acosta stated at a press conference.
Since this Friday, the Acosta Danza Company will be performing at the Avellaneda room ofr the National Theater of Cuba, along with the Mitos season where they will performance the Rooster play by the Spanish choreographer Goyo Montero and the one entitled´Mermaid´ by the Belgian Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the other one entitled´El salto de Nijinsky e Impronta, ´ both from María Rovira.
“Within the program, Rooster is abundantly obvious one of the pieces with more expectations, especially due to its sound track that includes eighth songs of the British the Rolling Stones band, besides, there will also dance that choreography on the international tour that they will be carrying out soon.”
“That is a happy piece of play and we have included some popular dances from that time and a specific gestures which have to do with passing the hand over the head and tiding the tie´s knob like in the 60s and 70s.
It is planned that Carlos Acosta who was the founder and director of that company could be part of the the Rooster´s play´s cast and Mermaid that is a duet especially conceived for Acosta Danza Company.
