
HAVANA, Cuba. - Russian Foreign Minister Serguei Lavrov laid a floral wreath on Thursday before the monument dedicated to Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the Revolution Square in Havana. He was accompanied by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Dagoberto Rodriguez Barrera.
During his stay in the Caribbean nation, the Russian top diplomat will hold official talks with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez and he will also head his country’s delegation to the Cuba-Russia Meeting of Political Consultation between the foreign ministries of both nations.
Lavrov is to give a speech later on Thursday during the inauguration of the 19th International Book Fair that kicks off today in the Cuban capital and which has Russia as its Guest of Honor.
Havana and Moscow are celebrating this year the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
