Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico will visit Cuba

Luis Videgaray Caso, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, will arrive in Cuba on Thursday, August 17, for a two-day visit to the island.

As announced by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs on its website, during his stay the Mexican diplomat will hold talks with Cuban authorities and carry out other activities.

In an interview with the Cuban News Agency last March, Luis Videgaray said that Cuba and Mexico are two people close to one another, with deep friendship and historical affection, something important if the challenges in the region are taken into account.

The presence in Havana this year of the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs was motivated by the XXII Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), in which he described as strategic the alliance with the people and the Cuban government.

During the most recent visit of Cuban President Raúl Castro to Mexico, different instruments of cooperation were agreed upon.
There are currently 70 direct weekly flights between Mexico and Cuba, and thanks to this systematic connection between the two nations, there is a growth of Mexican tourists to the island, which last year increased to more than 130 thousand.
