The Spanish Ballet of Cuba (BEC by its Spanish acronym) successfully toured the People's Republic of China for two months and performed the play "The Phantom of the Opera" in 31 cities with full houses.
On his return from the Asian country, dancer and choreographer Eduardo Veitia, director of the company, held a press conference at the Havana´s China Town to remain surrounded by the magical atmosphere of the Asian nation and its favorable welcome.
"We feel proud to take Cuban art to such distant lands with a millenary culture and to achieve such a resounding success," said Veitia, who was accompanied by first dancers, students, technicians and other participants in the tour.
He especially emphasized the great effort made by each of the members of the dance company, since every day they had to get up very early to prepare, rehearse and perform, and sometimes travel at night.
From mid-November 2019 to January 2020, the BEC, along with the music group Palo de Agua, made their impressions in theatres in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Mudanjiang, Daqing, Changchun and Dalian, among other cities.
