CAMAGUEY, CUBA.- The local rock group Grinder Carnage, a cultivator of death metal, will open in this city the inaugural program of the Brutal Fest International Festival, to be held at the Casino Recreational and Cultural Center on Friday.
In this third edition of Brutal Fest in Camaguey, Grinder Carnage will be followed on stage by the bands Mumakil, Daïgoro, Kess’Khtak, Promethee, Mystery Cold, Deadly Sin Orgy and The Prophecy, coming from Switzerland, France and Great Britain, the Adelante newspaper Web site reported.
Linked to the Hermanos Saiz Association in Camagüey province, Grinder Carnage presents the classic heavy metal format of two guitars, a bass, a drum and a vocalist. Its lyrics deal with the condemnation to war conflicts and bloody acts, with influences of other bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide y Morbid Angel, adds the Web site.
The first death metal bands emerged in 1983. Standing out as pioneers were “Possessed” and “Death,” from the United States, although European groups like “Sodom,” “Hellhammer,” “Celtic Frost” and “Bathory” established a model that many other bands followed.
